The Cake Lady

We chose our cake...whee! After wrestling back and forth between many wonderful vendors, we finally picked the Cake Lady - Shirley Resnick. She's this 70+ woman who makes cakes from scratch. Although she loves to talk and tell many stories, her cakes taste wonderfully amazing because all of her different flavored cakes melt in your mouth. It was an additional plus that she has a funny and amazing personality. Scott and I definitely got a kick out of her bride/groom stories.

The flavors we chose were butter strawberry shortcake swirl, double fudge chocolate, and the topper amaretto.

Cake Tasting & Design

We're back! It's been a while since we've both been blogging, but we've been busy with our family, friends, traveling, and enjoying our time planning our wedding :) This Saturday and Sunday we have meetings with two potential cake vendors, which we are excited about. The Cake Lady prides herself in creating tasteful cakes from scratch and Edelweiss prides itself on both the design and taste. I know we will have a difficult time deciding which one we will ultimately choose, but we are definitely up for the challenge!

Here are some of the inspired designs that we were going for with our cake:

Bridesmaid Dresses

We went to pick up our bridesmaids dresses at Aria Bridal today. The second date is scheduled for next Saturday for the rest of my other bridesmaids. For a moment I was having my bridezilla moment because the color swatch on the sash that my sister and I picked seemed more pink than peach. After reassurances from my bridesmaids and Abby (dress lady guru) that my dress was fine, I was okay after that. The peach color (orangish) was the color that I was looking for, but I realized that it will look more colorful and presentable if the pink color on the dress would be the accent color and the bouquet will be the main color (peach/orangish). We will see how this will pan out when I see my florist next year. Overall, my bridesmaids and I had an eventful and fun day today :) I realized that I am not perfect at all and I need to stop sweating the small stuff.

Halloween!

First of all, we want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween! We just booked our florist so we have one less vendor to worry about. Now all we have to decide on is which cake vendor to go with. We are excited and can not wait till everything is paid off and we can sit back and relax. It will all be worth it in the end. Things that we have on tap include a birthday weekend in Vegas, potential jobs, and all the holiday planning with both of our families. Definitely an exciting time of the year.

Keep checking back for the latest news on our wedding preparations!

Flower Day Today

Scott and I visited Auntie Tess at her flower shop in Chula Vista to lay down some ideas for flowers, bouquets, centerpieces, and color swatches. We were there for a couple of hours, but we all got so excited about the wonderful ideas that we came up together. You'll have to see them in person when the wedding day comes.

I am so glad and relieved that we will be working with Auntie Tess as our wedding florist. She's funny, down-to-earth, inspiring, knowledgeable, and full of energy! She works with your budget to give you the best ideas down to the detail. It's an additional plus that she won the local San Diego award for best florist of 2009.

Bouquets

I am a highly visual person. I love and seek color. Our wedding colors are peach and chocolate brown, but I know that I'm not limited to using these colors. I have always found that there's always something about color that creates mood, ambiance, and vibe. I'm definitely not afraid to use color that we can incorporate in our wedding.

With the flower appointment with Auntie Tess coming soon, I was envisioning having all my bridesmaids with one color and me having a vibrant, mixed bouquet.

Here are my points of interest:

I want the roses to look full and open for all my bridesmaids. I'm totally feeling the peonies on the all pink and cream bouquet because it makes the bouquet look fuller. I know that I definitely work on my flower names :) I'm still undecided on having orchids just because I'm looking for the ball effect on all my bouquets. Having roses will heighten the ball effect that I am looking for.

Peonies

Peonies and
Rununculus

Overall for my bouquet, I will be using visually stimulating colors of peach, baby pink, and fuchsia and I will be using roses, peonies, and rununculus to complete the look :) Whee...how exciting!

Hello Viewers, Friends, and Families

The wedding is quickly approaching and we have been on our way getting everything prepared. It's a very exciting/busy time, yet at times it can also be a stressful one.

With work and the wedding plans, we always make time to spend with one another. I (Christine) always felt it was important to emphasize the relationship and love that we have over the other things that I didn't deem so important. For example, knowing the details of the flowers that we will choosing. I always think of that as extra fluff. We didn't have to have a huge wedding, but we wanted to celebrate the momentous occasion with our close friends and family. I am so glad and honored that we will be celebrating our marriage in front of our friends and family that have been supportive throughout the years. We both cannot wait!

Over the course of the time we have left (7 months left), Scott and I will be updating our readers the things that we have contributed to our wedding. I will also answer questions that you may have about the wedding details and we will also give you some insight about ourselves.

Here is one question taken from Everyday Better Living: #52 Tell me when you first knew you loved me?

I don't think there was a monumental point where I first knew that I loved Scott. Our love just kept building throughout the years that we have known each other. We've been best friends since high school and I never knew that we were going to be together until we got to college. Basically, the love I have for Scott has always been the "best friend type-of-love." It didn't really solidify until we got back from our Maryland trip from visiting my best friend, Deplata that I thought it would be a possibility that we could be more than friends.

I loved Christine as a friend probably since the end of high school. She was always there when I needed someone to talk to. As far as love for a relationship, after our Maryland trip. It made me realize that I could not experience life without a special person like Christine.
